With the No. 16 overall pick, the Texans added some needed secondary depth, selecting Wake Forest cornerback Kevin Johnson.

Johnson (6-0, 188) was a four-season starter for the Demon Deacons, intercepting seven passes. He was timed at 4.52 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the Combine and recorded a vertical leap of 41.5 inches.

With Johnathan Joseph and Kareem Jackson already in the fold at corner, the Texans might be able to work in Johnson slowly in Year One, with his primary work in “sub” packages.

The Texans selected one spot after the Chargers, who traded up to No. 15 with San Francisco to select Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon.
