New Jersey billboards throw shade on Tom Brady

AP

The billboard-buying segment of the Jets fanbase doesn’t have John Idzik to kick around any more, so they found another target.

According to the New York Daily News, 12 billboards have been placed alongside roads in New Jersey mocking Patriots quarterback Tom Brady for his Deflategate suspension.

The billboards went with the hashtag-ready “#TomShady,” flexing their best middle school-level taunting.

“Jets fans are very opinionated,” said Carly Zipp, the communications director for billboard company Outfront Media. “Because billboards are something that is seen by everyone, they knew the power of message and they wanted to it get it out.”

The electronic billboards will be up through the end of the week across the Garden State, and while it’s a familiar tactic, the group that paid for the “Fire John Idzik” billboards said it wasn’t behind these.

Of course, Brady has a better track record than the former Jets General Manager, and unless he chooses to spend his free time tooling around the turnpike, probably won’t see them.

  1. Better use of money by Jets fans, than Pats fans raising money to help a billionaire owner pay his million dollar fine, which really isn’t a loss, when you subtract the savings of Tom Brady’s 4-game suspension which will save the Patriots $1,882,352 in salary expense. In all actuality, the Patriots actually “make” $882K. Obviously they’d rather have Brady starting, but they’ll not lose money, just games and draft picks.

    JETS JETS JETS!

  2. None of this is surprising. We are better than you, and many people seem to have difficulty dealing with that. Brady has a perfect life, something you likely cry at night about. In a way, I feel sorry for all of you. You will never know what it is like to be a winner.

  3. As a Pats fan I actually thought this was pretty funny. I mean, when your team is that awful every year, what else are you going to spend money on? Jets tickets?

  4. This is just as stupid and wasteful to me as the Patriots fan who set up the go-fund-me site to pay the fine.

Have some perspective. If you’ve got so much money burning a hole in your pocket that you can buy billboards, how about you help out an organization in your community instead?

If you want to tweak a rival, donate money to a women’s shelter in Ray Rice’s name. Do something, do anything, other than flush your money down the toilet on a billboard.

  5. A fan of neither team.

The Patriots, regardless of their underhanded tactics, always seem to be focused on being the best team in the NFL. The Jets, meanwhile, always seem to be focused on the Patriots.

Surprise, surprise which team seems to be more successful.

Redirect your energy elsewhere, and the results may change.

  6. Way to keep winning the off season jets fans. Don’t worry one day Tom and Bill will be gone and maybe you will be able to win something during the actual football season. Trust me, it feels really good when that happens.

  7. In addition to having a great deal of disposal income the Jets fans also are so clever. That is hilarious and so original I can’t stop laughing. By the way I’m being ver sarcastic. If they were being at least original you could respect that. Maybe they should post all of the success they have had in the superbowl in over 45 years On the billboard. It’s cheap because it’s blank. Now that’s clever.

  8. IDK, the Jets fanbase looks pretty ridiculous to me on this.

It’s not funny or witty when you’re the inferior organization and team with one claim to fame and your fanbase resorts to something like this to get excited about.

    It’s just sad.

    But that’s just my opinion.

  9. Bob Kraft and Cindy Brady are pathetic embarrassments for the whole league. Both are frauds. The UNEARNED trophies were obgained by fraud. The other 31 owners are ticked off at Krafts continual willingness to engage in cheating, and then, whoning and blaming the league when he gets caught.
The Patriots fans are even more pathetic by making excuses, whining, and actually spending their own money to send to Bobby Kraft to help pay the fine. Seriously…those are true morons.
It should come as no surprise when news comes out that ghe other owners are considering to toss Kraft out of the league in order to protect the Shield and themselves from Kraft’ sick desire to cheat.

  10. I love the pats jets rivalry. Jets fans are good at finding ways to stay happy without winning

  11. To quote Motorhead “just cuz you got the money doesn’t mean you got the right”.
What a waste of time and resources.

  12. It’s constructive at least…I mean, imagine how stupid it would be if they raised the money to pay a billionaire’s fine? LOL

  13. Better use of money by Jets fans, than Pats fans raising money (GoFundMe: As of 5/13/15 Pat lunatics have raised 13,295) to help a billionaire owner pay his million dollar fine, which really isn’t a loss, when you subtract the savings of Tom Brady’s 4-game suspension which will save the Patriots $1,882,352 in salary expense. In all actuality, the Patriots will “make” $882K. Obviously they’d rather have Brady starting, but they’ll not lose money, just games and draft picks.

    JETS JETS JETS!

  14. What happened to the ” Ultimate Jets Fan ” Fireman Ed???? He quit because the team was so bad and hadnt won in years!! For the first 35 of watching Patriots games we STUNK…We were known for the Sullivans screwing up the Michael Jackson tour to Irving Fryar getting stabbed by his wife and Matt Millen punching out Billy Sullivan….Jets fans get no sympathy from me for there dry run of titles…….I been there…….too bad…….sour grapes

  15. Jets fans are getting laughs while spending their disposable income. Meanwhile Patriots fans are weeping/mourning while passing the hat to raise money for their “poor” cheating franchise. LOL!

  16. “To be hated just means you have acheived success and distinction”

Or maybe you just did something reprehensible?

  17. Check the fumbling data! The data is accurate and it says the Pats have been cheating since 2007, the year after Brady lobbied the league for the rule change, and the same year the Pats gave longtime employee Jim McNally the title of locker room attendant. It’s also the same year he became the “deflator”.

    Pats fumbling data:
2000-2006: one fumble every 42 touches
2007-2014: one fumble every 74 touches

Pats have been cheating for years!!!

  18. UPDATE: Patriots fans have raised $13,347 towards Bill Kraft’s $1,000,000 fine. LOL!

  19. UPDATE: Patriots fans have raised $13,347 towards Bill Kraft’s $1,000,000 fine. LOL!

For a guy worth 4.3 Billion.it will only get higher….we have our rally cry for the year …thanks Roger….#bradywontmissagame

  20. I can’t decide which is more enjoyable, knowing that the Patriots and Brady will officially and forever be known as cheaters or watching their fans’ meltdown.

  21. Well you crazy Jets fans, the money you wasted just enrich the Wall Street boys. The Patriots will donate the gofundme $$$ to charity. If my last SB was over 46 years ago, I would be very disillusioned and Wacky also. But we have been there and it took another local boy to right the ship. The loss of the 2000 1st round choice to steal BB was worth it. The score is still 4-1 SB wins since the AFL folded.

So Jets fans, waste money rather than donate it to Women’s Charity as luckdunphyssciencproject says.

  22. In my opinion if Brady loses the appeal he should get more games, just for being smug enough to even ask for an appeal after he got caught with his pants down.

    #Size11UGGS #BradyKnew #TomShady

  23. Oh, sure, Jets fans, how quickly you forget. A full year before the Patriots “spygate” incident against your team, the Jets were let off the hook for the EXACT SAME OFFENSE. In 2006, they taped the Patriots AFTER an NFL memo had come out months earlier forbidding this practice. Goodell let that one slide. What about Tripgate in 2010. Good old Sal Alosi trips a Dolphins player on a punt return. He’s suspended for 3 games and fined $25K. The team is fined $100K. There are at least 38 more documented incidents over the years of Jets tactics like these. Pot calling the Kettle black. #yourteamcheats

  24. Kessler will have a field day ripping apart Wells report and showing the clear bias by the NFL front office (including Mike Kensil, former Jets President, who like all Jets fans has an inferiority complex to the Patriots)

Was this a pre-determined finding arranged by Goodell, Kensil and Wells?

The only way to find out is to have Wells, Goodell and Kensil release all their emails and cellphones to Kessler so he can review them

If they’re innocent they have nothing to hide

If they won’t release that, it proves they “won’t fully cooperate” and thus, they’re guilty

Since Wells himself has set that criteria he’s the last person who can assert he has any right to privacy

$5 million over 100 days for a report with a finding with no fact but just a “definitely probably” finding. Hilarious

    ———————————————————
The Patriots still pay Bradys salary it goes to charity

  26. Also this will be really funny when Brady goes after the league in court and never plays another game. One player thinks he is bigger than the league? Such an arrogant, egotistical skink. Even Dan Snyder took his punishment for non existent salary cap rules without taking it to court. That’s how this league works. Tom Brady wants to drag this out in court the other 31 owners will make sure he doesn’t see the field. How did court work for guys like Scott Fujita?

  27. integrity-explain why the patriots fumble far less on the road than at home every year since 2007-look it up and stop with your nonsense

  28. The Jets have won 2 division titles in 45 years (yes, that’s right. It’s not a typo). In a five team AFC East from 1970-2001 and a four team AFC East from 2002 – present, the New York Jets have won the division TWICE. And one of those 2 division titles was in 2002 on a three way tiebreaker of 9-7 records with Miami and the Pats. So outright best record? It’s actually one. ONE time in FORTY-FIVE YEARS.

Now you may understand the billboards…….

  29. For just the cost of a Grande cup of Starbucks coffee, you can make a difference, and help save the Patriots. LOL!

  30. Uh oh Pats haters!!! The 4 letter saying Tommy could eventually not be suspended at all today! Looks like Mr. Wells blowing his lid on that conference call the other day just might give the Pats the cherry on top they needed. See you at the banner ceremony week 1 Tommy!!

  31. I would guess they fumble more at home because they play in New England. On the road there is a better chance it will be ideal weather.

Not sure what the point there is?

  32. Frito Lay needs to jump in on this action. Waive the sponsorship fee for the use of Chester Cheeta and allow the Jets fans to use their character in a Pat’s uniform.

  33. I guess you can either throw your money away on billboards or throw your money away on Jets tickets/merchandise. Either way it’s like throwing it in the garbage

  34. I like how all the Pats fans say they are not a Pats fan before they comment. They have pretty much figured out we don’t buy in to the bull crap of the Patriots are not cheaters and are a hated franchise, not because they have won four super bowls, but because they are self entitled whine bags.

By the way I am NOT a Pats fan and your organization cheats and the fans are annoying.

  35. Too bad the brain-dead slobs behind this didn’t donate the money to a homeless shelter or some other worthy cause. But then again they are Jets fans so what do you expect.

  36. In that year we were in Vietnam.
That same year we landed on the Moon.
    Richard Nixon was President.
    Elvis was officially still alive.
    There were no PC’s
Phones were used to talk to people- with our vocies- not texts….
    Russia was the USSR….

…and the Jets won a SuperBowl.

  37. Wow if I was a jets fan I would be completely embarrassed. This will always be remembered. The fan base who wasted money on a Brady billboard. Wow. #no respect LMAO

  38. Since Jet’s fans can’t cheer for a Super Bowl team they might as well waste their time and money on a billboard that Brady will never see. And the Patriots will probably still beat the Jets twice this year even if Brady didn’t play.

  39. Perhaps Jets fans should take a que from the Pats fans. Donate to the Jets owners so they’ll have money to buy decent players. But, I guess after all those years of being trained by the Ryan clown, you miss him and need to act up on your own.

  40. Oh, Brady will see the billboards, so will the rest of the team. Belichick will have pictures of them flashing on every TV screen in Gillette during Jets week, along with many other nuggets. Keep it coming, PLEASE!!!

  41. As a person who doesn’t even watch football, but has played other sports all my life which include a ball.

There is no doubt the Pats cheated and most likely has been cheating for years.

It doesn’t matter if the Jets wasted their money or not. That’s not going to cover up the facts that the Pats are cheaters.

And that Tom Brady is also a cheater. He will be branded a cheater for the rest of his life.
