Vikings kicking in more cash for stadium

Cash

Like the new stadium in Atlanta, the new stadium in Minnesota keeps going more and more over budget. Unlike the new stadium in Atlanta, the new stadium in Minnesota is increasing in cost not by hundreds of millions of dollars but only by tens of millions.

Via the Associated Press, the Vikings will kick in another $14 million to the project, most of which will pay for more than 2,000 HDTV monitors to be installed in the venue.

The Vikings and the NFL will now pay $566 million of the $1 billion structure. The private contribution has increased by $89 million since the stadium project began in 2012.

In contrast, the stadium in Atlanta started at $1 billion and has increased by 50 percent, to $1.5 billion.
