Victor Cruz says he’s at 80 percent in his recovery from knee injury

New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz recently began cutting and running routes in recent weeks on his road to recovery from a torn patellar tendon last season.

According to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post, Cruz estimates he’s at 80 percent now as he continues to progress toward full strength.

“I’m about 80 percent there. I think it’s just a matter of continuing to build the strength for the last leg of it,” Cruz said. “I’ve been running some routes for about two weeks now, and there’s been no pain, no swelling or anything like that, which are all good signs.”

Cruz injured his right knee against the Philadelphia Eagles last October. Cruz had 23 catches for 337 yards and a touchdown in six games before the injury ended his season.

  1. I’m not sure why people are so excited about the giants offense, like it’s a sure-thing that beckham and cruz are going to be an amazing duo (there was a segment on espn about how explosive the giants are bound to be)

Cruz was pretty underwhelming before his injury on top of having a major injury that might leave him as not a good a player.

  2. Vic saw what happened to teammates who may have returned from injury too quickly, and is not overestimating his progress. He’ll be fine when he does hit the field.

maybe because eli threw for 4500 yards and 30 touchdowns without beckham for 4 games, cruz for 10 games, jennings for 6 games and a complete failure of a patchwork offensive line. not to mention a learning curve being the first year in a new system. granted, they just lost their starting LT so the offensive line might be just as bad this year (still hard to imagine), but you have to like their potential seeing as how they were 10th in the nfl in offense last year despite the mess i just described.
