The Texans have added a bit more veteran depth to their defensive line.

Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports that the team has reached agreement on a deal with defensive lineman Brandon Deaderick.

Deaderick played 13 games with the Saints last season, making eight tackles while largely playing a run-stopping role up front for New Orleans. He played 13 games for the Jaguars in 2013 and spent the first three years of his career with the Patriots, where he overlapped for two years with Texans coach Bill O’Brien.

Deaderick also played with Vince Wilfork when he was in New England, but is unlikely to join his fellow former Patriot in the starting lineup with the Texans. He’ll join Louis Nix III, Tevita Finau, Jeoffrey Pagan and others in the battle for backup roles.
