There are defensive players the Chargers do want to extend

It’s clear by their actions the Chargers don’t think a deal for safety Eric Weddle is a priority.

But there is another member of their defense they’d like to lock up.

Via Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Chargers want to extend defensive lineman Corey Liuget, “quietly working” on the deal now. (Or at least it was quiet).

While he hasn’t made the same kind of impact on their defense that Weddle has, he has produced.

The former first-round pick has 17.0 sacks, and has been a durable player, missing just one game his rookie season.
