Report: Lions talking to C.J. Mosley about return to team

Minnesota Vikings v Detroit Lions

Leon Halip

The Lions lost Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley as free agents, but they may bring back a familiar face at defensive tackle.

Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports that the team is talking to C.J. Mosley about a return to the fold for the 2015 season. Mosley played 31 games for the team over the last two seasons and was the team’s starter in the second half of last season and the playoffs after Fairley was lost to a knee injury.

Mosley had 26 tackles, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble for Detroit last year, which was his 10th season in the NFL. His season was marred by a team suspension after marijuana was found in Mosley’s room during the team’s trip to London for a game, which led to his only missed game of the year but the incident doesn’t seem to have left a lasting negative impact on the team’s opinion of him.

The Lions have traded for Haloti Ngata, signed Tyrunn Walker and drafted Gabe Walker to go with Caraun Reid at defensive tackle. Mosley would given them a player experienced with Teryl Austin’s defense, although Meinke reports at least one other team is also interested in the veteran’s services.
