Carson Palmer: Last year left big feeling of “unfinished business”

The Cardinals are off until training camp after finishing their offseason program last week and that means some time for quarterback Carson Palmer to rest even if he wants to do anything but rest.

Palmer has worked hard to get his knee back into shape after last year’s torn ACL and made it back for 11-on-11 work at minicamp, but the team’s medical staff has been adamant that he do nothing more than a daily swim workout this week after months of more grueling rehab. Palmer’s drive has been caused by the bad taste left by the injury and the realization that there’s not an endless amount of time to get to the Super Bowl.

"[It’s] as big of a feeling of unfinished business as you could have,” Palmer said, via TheMMQB.com. “That’s the main thing. We were 9-1, and things ended for me, and we just didn’t finish the year strong, and it left a bad taste in a lot of people’s mouths -- no more than mine. … I think about that all the time. Absolutely. You only get so many shots. I’m hoping this is lucky No. 13. I believe it is. It is another thing, though, to go out and prove it.”

Not all of the work Palmer did was physical. He also watched tape and identified some problems when he would look to throw the ball to the left side of the field. He feels he’s cleaned up that issue while also getting his knee back to strength, which is the least he’ll need in order to find a happier ending to this year’s business.
