Thanks to his on-field exploits at Tennessee and Tennessee Tech, wide receiver Da’Rick Rogers hit the league with a bit more fanfare than the average undrafted free agent when he signed with the Bills in 2013.
Rogers didn’t get drafted because his off-field history wasn’t as strong as what he did with a helmet and pads on, but the feeling was that he had enough talent to overcome those red flags. It’s a less popular opinion at this point in Rogers’s career.
Rogers bounced from the Bills to the Colts as a rookie and then landed in Kansas City this offseason, but he’ll have to go on the move again if he’s going to play in the NFL in 2015. The Chiefs announced Tuesday that they have waived Rogers ahead of this week’s minicamp. The team also waived offensive lineman Kelvin Palmer and signed offensive lineman Tavon Rooks.
Rogers is still 24 and may get another look from a team in search of wide receiver help in the next few months, but it becomes harder to believe that a breakthrough is right around the corner when three teams decide to move on in less than two years.
