Bill Belichick on Gronk’s partying: Whatever works for you

Super Bowl XLIX: New England Patriots Vs. Seattle Seahawks

Boston Globe

Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has a book called It’s Good to Be Gronk coming out next week and a look at some excerpts from the tome confirms that Gronk isn’t diving into the William Faulkner side of the literary pool.

Not that anyone would want him to, of course. If you’re reading a book about Gronkowski, you’re reading it to hear stories about football and partying since those are the two things that seem to take up most of Gronkowski’s waking hours. The book appears to have plenty, including stories about college parties with co-eds doffing their bikini tops before jumping into hot tubs and setting up a Slip ‘n’ Slide to run through a house shared by three Gronkowski brothers.

On the football side, Gronkowski recounts how he thought quarterback Tom Brady hated him during Gronkowski’s rookie year and shares an anecdote about coach Bill Belichick that explains why the party has kept going for Gronkowski in the NFL. Gronkowski recalls a conversation with the head coach about how he was spending his free time that featured Gronkowski telling the coach that “the fun stuff makes me grind harder.”

“He shook his head and walked away and said, ‘Whatever works for you...’” Gronkowski wrote, via the Boston Herald.

Belichick’s response has worked out well for the Patriots, bar owners and, come Tuesday, the readers of America.
