Sam Bradford expected to be ready for start of camp

When the Eagles finished up their offseason work, quarterback Sam Bradford said that something would have to go “horribly wrong” for him not to be ready for 11-on-11 work when training camp gets underway.

That’s not something you can rule out for a player who has torn his ACL two years in a row, but it appears that Bradford has avoided the real-world equivalents of a cartoon anvil dropping from the sky directly onto his head. Elliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com reports that Bradford is expected to be ready to go when the Eagles have their first training camp practice on August 2.

Shorr-Parks quotes a source who says that Bradford has been “looking great” in his continued rehab work this summer, which should have him in full team drills from the opening whistle next month. It will be the first time that Bradford has done those drills since joining the Eagles in a March trade with the Rams and the full speed return would speed up his delayed competition with Mark Sanchez as well.

Bradford is expected to play out the season under his current deal, which makes both health and high performance essential to his chances of landing a big contract in 2016. Beating out Sanchez would be a good first step on both fronts and it looks like Bradford will be in a position to do that in August.
