Dez Bryant says his hamstring’s OK after leaving practice early

One of the last things the Cowboys want to see at a practice this summer is wide receiver Dez Bryant grabbing his hamstring after a play and leaving the field to get medical attention.

That’s just what they saw on Thursday, however. Bryant caught a touchdown pass and dunked the ball over the goalpost during 7-on-7 drills, but grabbed his left hamstring after running a route on the next snap and didn’t return to the session. Bryant said after practice was over that it wasn’t a serious injury.

“I’m going to get it checked out but it’s nothing major,” Bryant said, via the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Bryant sent the same message to his Twitter followers a bit later, although you’d imagine that the Cowboys will take a little extra caution with a player they just signed to a new contract because of how much he means to their offense. Bryant also said that he didn’t get hurt dunking the ball, but owner Jerry Jones still wants him to knock it off.

“Not at all,” Jones said. “I know he can get there. I’d rather he come out here and do some hat tricks with that hat he had on after practice.”

Cowboys training camp: Come for the football, stay for the hat tricks and maybe a little glory hole if everything breaks right.
