Lions place David Ausberry on injured reserve, sign Jocquel Skinner

The Detroit Lions have placed tight end David Ausberry on injured reserve and signed cornerback Jocquel Skinner to replace him on the team’s roster.

The Lions had signed Ausberry in June to serve as some additional depth with Joseph Fauria sidelined with injuries this offseason.

Ausberry was injured early in camp and had been unable to return to practice. As a veteran, Ausberry was placed directly on injured reserve and didn’t have to pass through waivers.

Ausberry was a former seventh-round pick of the Raiders in 2011. He appeared in 34 games over four years with the Raiders, but played in just six games the last two seasons due to injuries.

Ausberry has caught seven passes for 120 yards in his career.

Skinner has spent time with the Dallas Cowboys, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers after going undrafted out of Bethel University last year.
