NFL says it hasn’t received a viable proposal from Oakland

NFL owners met in Chicago today to get the latest on the Los Angeles situation.

And it doesn’t bode well for Oakland.

Eric Grubman, the league’s point man for its L.A. efforts, said that the Raiders haven’t been presented with a viable proposal from the city of Oakland, via Mark Maske of the Washington Post.

The Raiders and/or Chargers and/or Rams are involved in a three-horse race for one or two spots in L.A., so it’s expected to hear this kind of update from the league, which is in the business of creating and maximizing leverage.

So with the Chargers’ talks with San Diego about a new stadium “all but dead” and Rams owner Stan Kroenke ready to stick a shovel in the ground in Inglewood, the league has the ability to create something of a bidding war.

No votes were taken today, as owners received updates on temporary facilities as well.
