Tony McDaniel says Michael Bennett wants to return to Tampa

Cut by the Seahawks, defensive tackle Tony McDaniel has joined the Buccaneers. In his first day on the job, McDaniel dropped a little bomb about a former Buccaneer who still plays in Seattle.

McDaniel said defensive end Michael Bennett wants to come back to Tampa.

“I told him about some of the teams that were offering me and he said Tampa was a great place, and he even said he wishes he could come back down here,” McDaniel told reporters, via JoeBucsFan.com.

Bennett left the Buccaneers after the 2012 season, signing a one-year deal with Seattle. When that contract expired he could have returned to the Bucs, but he signed a four-year contract to stay with the Seahawks.

Bennett stayed away from offseason workouts in an effort to get a reworked deal, but he showed up for the mandatory minicamp and training camp.
