Earl Wolff’s knee has been “getting worse and worse every day”

The Eagles rolled the dice on a couple of players returning from serious knee injuries when they acquired linebacker Kiko Alonso and quarterback Sam Bradford this offseason and they haven’t had to deal with any issues related to those injuries yet this summer.

They haven’t been as lucky with a returning member of the 2014 team who had a knee injury of his own to deal with. Safety Earl Wolff ended the year on injured reserve and had surgery after the season, but things have been moving in the wrong direction recently. Wolff didn’t play against the Colts on Sunday and said he re-aggravated the injury at some point in practice.

“It’s just been getting worse and worse every day,” Wolff said, via NJ.com. “It got to the point where I couldn’t walk after practice.”

Wolff doesn’t know if he’ll be able to play in the preseason and expects to talk to Dr. James Andrews soon about whether or not another surgery is needed. Losing Wolff would be a blow to the depth in a secondary that’s already lost cornerback JaCorey Shepherd for the season to a torn ACL.
