The Bears have made a change to their defensive depth chart before they face the Colts on Saturday night.

Fifth-round pick Adrian Amos joins Antrel Rolle as the safeties on the first team with Brock Vereen dropping down to the second string after being on top of the depth chart for last Thursday’s game against the Dolphins. Amos impressed the coaches during that game and started taking snaps with the starters in practice over the weekend.

“We thought enough of Amos to draft him,” head coach John Fox said on Sunday, via ESPN.com. “I think he’s had opportunities just like all the other safeties to play and be evaluated and make plays. He’s earned where he is. I don’t know if that’s the way it’ll stay. It’s not where you start the race it’s where you finish it. He’s earned that and we’ll go from there.”

In addition to playing safety, Amos saw time on outside and slot receivers during his time at Penn State and that versatility should serve him well in his bids for both a starting spot and playing time during his rookie season.
