Cowboys expect Zack Martin back next week

The Cowboys are dealing with some injuries on their offensive line right now, but they hope things start looking better next week.

That’s when they expect to have right guard Zack Martin back on the field. Martin was injured during Wednesday’s practice and stayed on the field for several minutes while medical personnel looked at his head and neck before Martin was able to head to the sideline under his own power.

Martin has been diagnosed with a stinger and the team’s website says he’ll miss the rest of the week while he recovers. They also say “perhaps” he’ll miss Sunday’s game against the 49ers as well, although we’d guess that the likelihood is a bit higher than that if Martin is going to be out of practice for the next few days.

Left guard Ronald Leary had an MRI on his back this week, left tackle Tyron Smith has been bothered by a biceps issue and right tackle Doug Free is battling a foot injury. None of the injuries are thought to be serious enough to impact their availability for the regular season, which is a good thing for Dallas given how good that group was last season.
