Breshad Perriman remains questionable for Week One

AP

The Ravens remain unsure whether first-round rookie Breshad Perriman will be on the field when they open the season a week from today.

Coach John Harbaugh says Perriman, who didn’t play at all in the preseason after suffering a knee injury on the first day of training camp, is questionable for the opener against the Broncos.

I don’t know. I really don’t have the answer for that,” Harbaugh said. “I think he has a chance, yes. But whether it’s to what degree, that’s wide open right now. I don’t know.”

The Ravens, who lost Torrey Smith in free agency, could use some depth behind No. 1 receiver Steve Smith, which is why they drafted Perriman. If Perriman can’t go, the Ravens will count on Kamar Aiken and Marlon Brown as their second and third options.

    Really not excited about this offense this year. Hopefully Joe and Mark can get a lot of different guys the ball and play the pats style of offense. Just be quicker. Idk I don’t think the talents there.

    @thebirdsareback

    Not excited about this offense?!?!? Arguably the best offensive line in the league, Justin Forsett led the league in yards per carry last year, Steve Smith Sr. and Kamar and Campanaro are solid #2 options at WR, Crocket Gillmore has shown flashes as a rookie and this preseason, and Joe Flacco looks better each and every year.

    How many stars do you need at skilled positions to make you excited???? This is the best Ravens offense heading into a season that I can ever remember. What are you talking about?!?!?

    Sure you can say Aiken and Brown would be 2/3 targets but reality is that Crockett Gilmore and Forsett would be seeing more targets. Also my dark horse on this team- Darren Waller. Kid has shown some phenomenal hands and uses his size like a big man should. He’s had some time with he 1’s don’t be shocked if he puts up 6 in week one

    Take it nice and slow. Ravens know what’s important is having him 100% in October /November. Not 75% in September. Maxx Williams will be big early, he was born to play the game… every time he gets the football in his hands good things happen. Needs to ease up with the hurdling over defenders though.

    Moving past Nattypoes, who is delusional, apparently, let me try to cheer you up thebirdsareback: have you seen my Steelers’ secondary and D line depth? Holy moly. More garbage and more flames than a dumpster fire. Just wait until Oct 1. Your offensive guys will look alright.

    @steeltroll

    I don’t see any delusion in my statement…

    Do the Ravens and Cowboys not have the best two offensive lines in the league?

    Did Forsett not lead the league in yards per carry?

    Steve Smith Sr… Beast. Are Kamar and Campanaro not decent second options?

    Only Ravens fans know about Gillmore, so no reason in asking your opinion.

    Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco.

    This is the Ravens best offense heading into a season by far, that’s just a fact, and we haven’t even seen top draft pick Perrimen. Can anyone point to a Ravens offense that had more promise heading into a season than this one?

    Steve Smith is entering Hines Ward territory. Perriman has been on the shelf and is a rookie. Maxx Williams is a rookie. No reason to think both won’t be outstanding players in the future. But it is safe to temper exuberance for first year players. Teams able to keep the run game in control are going to make Flacco win it through the air with unseasoned rooks and geezers. I’d withhold my excitement were I you. Until you face the Steelers D on Oct 1, of course.

    Justin Forsett? Steve Smith Sr? How about the team with Air McNair, Jamal Lewis and Derrick Mason. Oh and Todd Heap. That was a good offense. Or it looked good on paper. That team also had a 1st round wr (Clayton) and a beast of an offensive line (anchored by Ogden). I’ll take that team over your current “super squad”. I’d say your offense is 3rd best in the AFCN, and not even very close to 2nd. And that’s with us having Dalton, who you will never mistake me as being a fan of. Settle down.

    They won’t let me post my comment with the stats supporting my claim, but that team you’re referencing with McNair, they all played together one year… 2006. And all of them were in the twilight of their careers, and were not putting up the numbers you think they did. The stats showed that at that time in their career, their current counterparts outperformed all of them, except for Heap being better than Gillmore. You’d be surprised how lopsided it is, too if you check out the stats.

    And to clarify, I’m not saying the Ravens will be great compared to the league. They’re not the Steelers’ offense. But relative to past Ravens’ offesnes, yes, this one holds more promise than any other prior Ravens offense, and the stats support that.

    @ Natty

    I’m a huge Ravens fan but I’m sorry; you’re comment sounds a little ridiculous.

    The best offense this team ever had was obviously the one that won the super bowl in my opinion. An o-line that had future hall of famer Matt Birk at center, a motivated Mount McKinnie, top pick Michael Oher & of course Marshal Yanda. Although our line is currently one of the best in the league…it’s not better than those guys.

    But where the biggest gap occurs is in the receiving corps.

    The beast that was Anquan Boldin who I still say we got rid of a year too soon was basically a bigger & younger version of Steve Smith. Torrey Smith was Perriman WITH actual NFL experience. Dennis Pitta was looking like one of the best TE’s in the entire league & Ray Rice was an All-Pro RB who did a little bit of everything. Add a motivated Flacco in a contract year & I’m sorry…that offense laughs this current one off the field.

    That being said…I am optimistic about the offense & I like these young guys a lot more than I’ve ever liked Ravens young offensive players before. I think TE Crockett Gillmore & WR Darren Waller are gonna prove to be huge both figuratively & literally by season’s end for this offense. Steve Smith is king of playing with a chip on his shoulder & with this being his last season, I’d expect him to do great things out there too for his final bow.
