Linebacker Josh McNary’s career came to a halt in January when he was charged with rape, criminal confinement and battery and placed on the Commissioner’s exempt list by the NFL.
That move left McNary out of the AFC Championship game and the Colts made no effort to re-sign him when his contract expired in March, but the outlook for McNary’s return to the league brightened last week when a jury found him not guilty of any crimes after a short trial.
And now McNary is back in the league and back with the Colts. The team announced Sunday that McNary is a member of their practice squad. He has 54 tackles (13 on special teams) in 20 games with the Colts over the last two seasons.
The Colts filled out their entire practice squad Sunday and the other nine additions were all part of the team’s roster this offseason. Wide receiver Duron Carter is part of the group along with linebacker Daniel Adongo, guard David Arkin, wide receiver Quan Bray, tackle Ulrick John, safety Dewey McDonald, cornerback Eric Patterson, defensive tackle Jeris Pendleton and tight end Erik Swoope.
