With the season opener rapidly approaching, the roster shuffling that goes on after the cut to 53 players has started to slow down as teams turn their attention toward planning for Sunday.
The Raiders made a tweak on Monday when they claimed defensive end Lavar Edwards off of waivers from the Cowboys. Edwards was the second player that the Raiders added off waivers since setting their initial 53-man roster, joining defensive back Keenan Lambert as new arrivals in Oakland.
Edwards was a fifth-round pick of the Titans in 2013 and made nine appearances for them as a rookie before being traded to Dallas last summer. He had a tackle in four games with the Cowboys, but lost his spot on the roster when they acquired running back Christine Michael.
The Raiders placed cornerback Chimdi Chekwa on injured reserve. Chekwa spent the last four seasons with the team and returned this offseason after a brief stint with the Patriots.
