Rex Ryan calls on Bills fans to help stop Andrew Luck

With Andrew Luck and the Colts coming to town on Sunday, Buffalo coach Rex Ryan says his defense needs help.

“We have to make it miserable when people come in here,” Ryan said. “I’m calling our fans out. We need you. This guy is the No. 1 fantasy quarterback for this week. He’s the play. He’s the go-to-guy. Everybody wants him. But we have to make it challenging for him, and we will with our defense and all that. We’re going to make it as challenging as we possibly can but it can only be added by our fans. When our defense is on the field, I can’t wait to see our fans.”

Buffalo fans seem as excited as ever by the team Ryan is building. This season they’ve sold more than 60,000 season tickets for the first time in franchise history, and Ryan believes that home-field advantage is going to be significant.

“The fans that I talk to are as excited about this opportunity, this game, as I am. Any team that comes in here, but particularly a team like the Colts, that it’s personal. It’s a personal challenge to our fans, our football team, our defense obviously, but our fans as well,” Ryan said.

The fans will be loud when Luck first takes the field on Sunday. Whether they’re still enthusiastic three hours after kickoff will depend on how ready Ryan has his team to play.
