Raiders trade receiver Brice Butler to Cowboys

St Louis Rams v Oakland Raiders

Ezra Shaw

After losing Dez Bryant to a broken foot, the Cowboys have added some depth at wide receiver.

Brice Butler confirmed on Twitter this afternoon that he has been traded from Oakland to Dallas.

“Appreciate the Raider Nation for standing by me!! I’ll never forget you guys!!” Butler wrote. “Now it’s time to play for Americas team! Cowboys Nation I’m coming!!!”

There’s no immediate word on what the Cowboys gave up to get Butler, but it was likely a late-round draft pick.

The Raiders selected Butler in the seventh round of the 2013 NFL draft after he played three years of college football at USC and one year at San Diego State. Last year Butler caught 21 passes for 280 yards and two touchdowns. He did not play for the Raiders in Week One.

In Dallas Butler likely won’t have a huge impact, but the Cowboys needed another receiver, and now they have one.
