Is J.J. Watt the Texans’ third tight end?

With Ryan Griffin on injured reserve, the Texans currently have two tight ends on the roster. Sort of.

The Texans also have defensive end J.J. Watt, and John McClain of the Houston Chronicle asked Watt on Wednesday whether he’s now the team’s de facto third tight end.

The question came after Watt said “maybe” in response to whether he’s lobbying for more reps on offense. And after McClain suggested that Watt is tight end number three, Watt simply said, “You guys have a good day.”

Watt had several good days last year as a tight end. More could be coming this year. Which could fuel yet another MVP candidacy.

McClain talked about those and other topics during a Thursday visit to PFT Live on NBC Sports Radio. Listen to Hour One of today’s program on demand.
