Josh Norman fined for taunting

Josh Norman

AP

Panthers cornerback Josh Norman is a pretty good player. Norman is pretty good, too, at drawing attention to himself.

He’ll be paying for his gesture last week while returning an interception for a touchdown.

Norman waved -- goodbye, presumably -- to Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles as he ran by, and for that the NFL has docked Norman $8,681. He was not fined for his post-touchdown celebration during which he rode an imaginary horse before making an imaginary dismount.

Norman was fined $11,000 for wearing silver cleats last season and $8,268 for fighting.

Earlier this week, Norman told reporters he’d gouged the eyes of Jaguars wide receiver Allen Hurns in a pile of people during the game. Hurns later said that didn’t happen -- and wasn’t even possible because Hurns wears a protective shield on his helmet.

So, it’s Norman’s world and we’ll just enjoy the show. He’ll get more attention Sunday in a likely matchup with Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.
