Report: Saints fear Brees will miss several games with shoulder injury

AP

Things are going from bad to worse for the 0-2 Saints.

New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees has a shoulder injury that the Saints believe will cause him to miss games, possibly several games, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Brees acknowledged after Sunday’s loss to the Buccaneers that his shoulder was bothering him on some of his throws. But Brees didn’t sound as if he believed he would have to miss any time.

Now it sounds like Brees may miss significant time. The Saints are a mess right now, and without Brees, things are only going to get worse.

Just imagine the jersey sales if they were to sign Tebow. The internet would blow a gasket over a Tebow jersey with the word “Saints” on it. This needs to happen.

Oh no, that could lead to several losses.

    Oh wait.

Guess Verizon will have to suspend those Luke McCown commercials.

Last season Major Wright on Tampa speared Jimmy Graham and broke his shoulder…
    Now McCoy breaks Brees shoulder…
    hmm…
Maybe someone ought to be looking into the Bucs, eh ROGER GOODDELL???

Just keep churning the news cycle….. If Drew needs time to heal, he’ll get it and he deserves it.

Luke and Garrett can keep things going if necessary. I believe this team has heart, especially after I saw how the team came alive to battle back at the end of the third quarter.

    Oh ye of little faith!

The New Orleans Saints are now on the clock with the first pick in the 2016 NFL draft.

i blame McKown and those commercials.

    Recover quickly Drew Brees….

It’s 1 thing to lose to the leagues worst team but to suffer an injury is obvious worse!

Since I came to this country, I’ve seen father time eventually defeat Favre, Peyton & Brees.

  13. jgedgar70 says: Sep 21, 2015 4:50 PM

I never root for anyone to get hurt. That being said, now the Saints have a real challenge on their hands, going against a Panthers D that probably will have Kuechly back.

  14. xpensivewinos says: Sep 21, 2015 4:51 PM

So was it McCown or Saban that put a mojo on him??????

  15. mvp43 says: Sep 21, 2015 4:52 PM

Drew himself is speechless and wants an explanation.

I wonder if it’s the same shoulder from the 2006 season

  17. bangithard says: Sep 21, 2015 4:57 PM

My bet is that this is the first step to yet another Franchise QB divorce from the franchise…..

    no one developed behind him…

things could get ugly for the Saints

Turn off the lights when you leave, Drew.

Time to pull out your old paper bags again, New Orleans!

that Dallas vs Saints game in two weeks is taking a ratings dive.

    Romo vs Brees

    becomes

    Weeden vs McKown

All good things come to an end. The unraveling started last year.
We Saints fans hoped for something new this year, but we’re a bit off.

  22. emmitt22bates40 says: Sep 21, 2015 5:06 PM

I believe we might be seeing the end of Drew as an NFL QB. It’s crazy how fast things go downhill when a guy hits his mid thirties and beyond.

  23. milkmandanimal says: Sep 21, 2015 5:12 PM

As bad as that line was yesterday, Brees should consider himself lucky if he gets a few weeks off so things hopefully improve. Zach Strief played one of the worst games as an o-lineman that I’ve ever seen, and I’ve endured years of being a Bucs fan. I have no idea what he thought he was supposed to be doing out there.

  24. romoistop5 says: Sep 21, 2015 5:13 PM

Brees will not be playing for NO next year. Huge cap number, two straight years with no playoffs, things are about to get very ugly for saints as a franchise unless they hit on a QB in the draft. Get the paper bags out.

  25. noteamforlosangeles says: Sep 21, 2015 5:13 PM

Should’ve kept Ryan Griffin…Garrett Grayson, come on down!

  26. sbdt says: Sep 21, 2015 5:16 PM

It sucks. He’s played hard and has achieved status far beyond local hero. But there’s no one really left to blame when you’re throwing ducks. People will rebel at first but then they’ll get over it. This year is gonna be a bummer either way.

  27. walterpaytonbestalltime says: Sep 21, 2015 5:16 PM

as much as I hate to see these great QBs start to slide, Favre, Manning, now Brees, why doesn’t Brady show his age, seriously, Please, just a little…

Considering Tebow is not a good quarterback, I don’t think they or anyone else will be signing him anytime soon. If he couldn’t beat out Mark Sanchez, that’s all you need to know about his skill level.

  29. harrisonhits2 says: Sep 21, 2015 5:17 PM

Wow McCown and a rookie is all they’ve got after Brees.

And in a couple games when McCown is booed off the field they’ll have to pick up one of the loser vets that are out there praying for things like this to happen so they can get an NFL paycheck for another few games.

Sure is gonna be awful thin out there for other teams whose QBs go down after Brees and Romo have.

  30. dansardo says: Sep 21, 2015 5:19 PM

Let’s be honest, the saints season ended before September and brees’s window is now slammed shut. Playing for draft picks now

  31. harrisonhits2 says: Sep 21, 2015 5:20 PM

“Just imagine the jersey sales if they were to sign Tebow. The internet would blow a gasket over a Tebow jersey with the word “Saints” on it. This needs to happen.”

At this point why the hell not given who they have for backups.

  32. saint970 says: Sep 21, 2015 5:21 PM

As sooon as I saw Ian Rapoport tied to the story, i knew it wasn’t true. I know some of you can’t wait for him to leave. Too bad for you.

  33. r502 says: Sep 21, 2015 5:30 PM

Rob Ryan’s defense will bail them out. Whoops, nevermind.

  34. joedirte says: Sep 21, 2015 5:30 PM

Man no one won with that Jimmy Graham trade. They might need to trade Brees next season they probably could find a dummy to give up a # 1 pick for him. Like the Jets, Bills, Bears, Browns, or Eagles.

  35. dkeucd says: Sep 21, 2015 5:32 PM

So Dallas will be 4-0 with only 5 games left until Romo and Dez return. I can live with that.

  36. tattooit says: Sep 21, 2015 5:57 PM

The Pats are going to get the Cowboys without Romo or Dez, and the Saints without Brees. They might go 16-0.

  37. campcouch says: Sep 21, 2015 6:02 PM

The team stinks. And ironically it’s because of Brees. The organization AND fans said pay him for the feel good story he brought to the city, yet they didn’t see how his salary would choke the franchise. Look at all of the players they lost from that SB squad. You can have schemes and offensive geniuses, but without talent, nothing comes of it. That’s on the front office.

  38. captainloaded says: Sep 21, 2015 6:04 PM

The Saints were doomed once they signed Brees to that GIANT contract. As he padded their stats, they signed others to big deals. There was no way for them to keep a team together once you factor in those contracts. Too much power with one player and too much invested in signing bonuses. Drew Brees spoke for the players union and the franchise rules. This is his baby and the result.

  39. colt13 says: Sep 21, 2015 6:05 PM

I like Grayson, hope he gets an extended look.

Seems hard to believe that Brees has been around since 2001. Drafted after the Chargers traded the #1 pick(Vick) and ended up with Brees and Tomlinson.

  40. thegenghiskahn88 says: Sep 21, 2015 6:30 PM

These injuries are absolutely ridiculous.. Get well soon, Drew.

Cowboys might get off to a 3-1 or a 4-0 (HIGHLY UNLIKELY) start.

  41. ragnarthemagnificent says: Sep 21, 2015 7:24 PM

With the first overall pick in the 2016 draft the N’Oleans Taints select………………

  42. ubepunkedagain says: Sep 21, 2015 7:57 PM

Should trade a first to Cleveland for Manziel.
