The Packers hope that having an extra day to recover before facing the Chiefs on Monday night would give running back Eddie Lacy and wide receiver Davante Adams time to heal from the ankle injuries they suffered in last Sunday’s victory over the Seahawks.

That may happen, but their condition didn’t improve enough for either player to get on the practice field on Thursday. Both Lacy and Adams were observers during the practice session, which coach Mike McCarthy said he expected to be the case when he met with reporters before the session.

“I think the last three days helped our whole football team,” McCarthy said, via the Green Bay Press-Gazette. “Eddie and Davante have been here pretty much most of the day, most of the three days. They’re getting better. They’ll both do some pre-practice work and then we’ll see from there, but I don’t have high expectations of them practicing today.”

McCarthy added that he would feel comfortable playing Lacy with limited practice reps in the days leading up to the game, so a return to practice in the next two days would likely be a good sign for his chances of being in the lineup against Kansas City.
