Giants take advantage of three turnovers to earn 32-21 victory over Washington

The New York Giants finally held onto a fourth quarter lead and picked up their first win of the season, 32-21, over the Washington Redskins on Thursday night.

The Giants took advantage of three Washington turnovers and a blocked punt for a safety to pick up their first victory of the year.

Eli Manning completed 23 of 32 passes for 279 yards and two touchdowns as the Giants were in control all night.

Rashad Jennings blocked a Tress Way punt and the ball went out of the end zone for a safety to give New York a 2-0 lead. Andre Williams would score on a 1-yard touchdown to extend the Giants lead to 9-0.

The two teams would trade five field goals before Manning’s pass to Odell Beckham Jr. early in the fourth quarter gave the Giants a 25-6 lead.

Washington would nearly score a touchdown on their next possession but ultimately came up empty. On a 4th-and-1, running back Matt Jones picked up the first down but fumbled at the 1-yard line and the ball went out of the end zone for a touchback to give the Giants the ball.

The Redskins would finally get a touchdown on the board on the ensuing possession as Chris Thompson caught a 4-yard touchdown from Kirk Cousins. The two-point attempt was successful to close the gap to 11, but the Giants recovered the onside kick and quickly added to their lead.

Cousins was intercepted twice by the Giants. He finished with 316 yards and a touchdown for Washington.

Breeland deflected a pass intended for Reuben Randle up into the air and Randle caught it for a 41-yard touchdown to extend the lead to 32-14. The margin lasted all of 13 seconds as Rashad Ross returned the ensuing kickoff 101 yards for a Washington touchdown.
