Devonta Freeman runs wild against Cowboys

With rookie Tevin Coleman out due to a rib injury, Falcons running back Devonta Freeman knew he’d be getting his chances on Sunday. He made the most of them.

Appearing earlier this week on PFT Live on NBC Sports Radio, Freeman declared his love for the team’s new offense. On Sunday, Freeman demonstrated his love for the offense, gaining 141 yards on 30 carries and scored three touchdowns in Atlanta’s victory. The Falcons were behind by 14 three different times, before scoring 25 unanswered points.

The third-year tailback from Florida State added 52 yards on five receptions, giving him 193 yards from scrimmage.

Freeman ran hard all day, and he seemed to get better as the game went on. It’s a message to teams that like to use a platoon system for their ground game. Sometimes, it makes sense to stick with one guy, because that one guy may be barreling through the defense when the game is on the line.

The Falcons had 158 yards rushing against the Cowboys, a week after giving up only seven yards rushing to the Eagles.
