Todd Bowles cuts bait on latest Jets Twitter flap

Imagine that, the Jets involved in a Twitter flap. Only this time, their coach handled it and ended it quickly.

According to Seth Walder of the New York Daily News, the son of Jets tight ends coach Jimmie Johnson said some disparaging things about a few Jets after Sunday’s loss, including a picture of “bum ass Geno Smith,” and one of cornerback Antonio Cromartie “with 2 of his 15 kids.”

Cromartie fired back on Twitter, writing: "“Y the f you worried about my family. If it wasn’t for your dad you (wouldn’t) be nothing in life @JimmieJ82. You better watch yourself son.” Then Cromartie told TMZ: “I’m not going to apologize for what I said in regards to my kids. You don’t take a picture of my kids and talk trash.”

Jets coach Todd Bowles knew of it, but was hardly interested in it.

“I was aware of it,” he said. “We handled it in-house and we’ve got bigger fish to fry than that.”

As for Cromartie’s initial response, Bowles said: “He’s a parent, he’s going to say what he is to protect his kids. So we move on.”

Honestly, the dealing with this situation needs to begin and end with Johnson and his son. If Junior can’t handle a phone and a social media account responsibly at his father’s place of work, I’m sure there’s a flip phone that would enable him to call his dad in case of emergencies perfectly well.
