There’s a descriptive verb that’s often used for people who fail to fulfill a responsibility to appear at a certain place at a certain time.

And when the person in question has also blown off a finger in a fireworks accident, you know that verb’s going to be the lede in New York.

According to Ebenezer Samuel of the New York Daily News, Giants defensive end Jason Pierre Paul, well, how to say it, failed to fulfill a responsibility to appear at a certain place at a certain time for a charity function last night.

Pierre-Paul was scheduled to appear at the Harboring Hearts Benefit event in Manhattan, which was going to be his first appearance in New York since he met with the Giants on Labor Day.

Teammates Landon Collins and Damontre Moore were also supposed to be there, but they didn’t show either.

A press person for the event blamed traffic on multiple occasions, which would have been easier to sell if the Pope was still in town.

Pierre-Paul still hasn’t signed with the Giants, who reportedly told him to come back in six weeks so they could see if he was closer to being in football shape. Perhaps he was working out last night, and there will be another video for us all to enjoy later.
