Colts cut emergency backup quarterback Josh Johnson

Andrew Luck must be feeling better.

The Colts just announced they had released journeyman quarterback Josh Johnson, who was signed last week as an emergency backup to Matt Hasselbeck.

The fact they’re entering a short week created some concern about Luck’s condition, since he barely threw last week with a shoulder issue, and was inactive against the Jaguars.

But since the Colts were only carrying two quarterbacks prior to Luck’s shoulder flaring up, they needed a spare.

The fact they don’t need Johnson any longer (they still have Alex Tanney on the practice squad), is probably a sign for Luck’s availability Thursday against the Texans.
