Randall Cobb: “Definitely frustrating” to face constant double coverage

When Jordy Nelson was healthy last season, double covering him often meant that Randall Cobb would make defenses pay and the two men each racked up more than 90 catches and 1,200 yards before the season came to a close.

Things haven’t been so prolific with Nelson out of the lineup this season. While the Packers keep winning every week, they haven’t found the consistent other threat to make defenses think twice about doubling Cobb. As a result, Cobb’s making fewer big plays and looking for some help getting on track.

“It’s definitely frustrating,” Cobb said, via the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “But it’s part of the game, it happens. I’m sure Jordy felt like this at times last year. But the more guys make plays around us, the harder it will be for teams to do that. That’s why we need everybody making plays.”

Getting Davante Adams back in the lineup from an ankle injury could help loosen things up for Cobb, who is averaging three fewer yards per catch than he had last season. He’s practiced both days this week, but has been limited so counting him in for Sunday will have to wait at least until Friday’s injury report is released.
