Jim Tomsula: Kapernick’s our quarterback, no controversies

Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area reported that “something big could happen” to shake up a 49ers team that looked terrible against the Seahawks in a 20-3 loss that left “a lot of very upset people” in the 49ers.

As of head coach Jim Tomsula’s meeting with the media on Friday, that something big isn’t a change at quarterback. Colin Kaepernick was 13-of-24 for 124 yards and took six sacks during the loss, which led to the latest round of questions about his security as the team’s starter. Tomsula said there’s no change on the horizon.

“Yes, Colin’s our quarterback. No controversies,” Tomsula said, via the San Jose Mercury News.

Kaepernick’s right thumb was bandaged after the game and Tomsula said it is swollen, but added, presumably about the thumb and not the performance, that there’s nothing “that shows me concern.”

Tomsula didn’t hint at any big changes that could be coming, saying only that the 2-5 team is reviewing the fit between their personnel and scheme. Thus far, that fit has been a poor, if not nonexistent, so there’s plenty to keep the team busy.
