Matthew Stafford has X-rays on hand after loss

Gregory Shamus

There was a moment during Sunday’s loss to the Vikings when it looked like the Lions might turn to Dan Orlovsky at quarterback.

Unlike the decision to bench Matthew Stafford a couple of weeks ago, this one wasn’t based on performance. Stafford was getting his leftt hand checked out on the sideline while Orlovsky did some throwing, but Detroit stuck with their starter.

He is getting further medical attention after the game however. Coach Jim Caldwell said during his post-game press conference that Stafford was having X-rays taken of his hand.

Stafford was sacked seven times and hit at least a dozen times by the Vikings on Sunday so there were ample opportunities for him to pick up an injury. He finished the day 18-of-26 with two touchdowns and the Lions fell to 1-6 in the 28-19 loss.
