Jets running back Chris Ivory is, according to coach Todd Bowles, dealing with “tightness in his quad.” While it may not keep Ivory from playing, it has caused the Jets to look at a couple of running backs.

Per a league source, the Jets tried out Jeff Demps and Akeem Hunt on Tuesday. Also getting tryouts with the team were receiver Larry Pinkard and defensive back Cooper Taylor.

Demps, a former sprinter who spent time with the Patriots and Buccaneers, has appeared in only two NFL regular-season games, with one attempt for 14 yards and three catches for 21 yards. Hunt has never appeared in a regular-season game; he last spent time with the Giants.

After Sunday’s loss to the Patriots, linebacker Dont’a Hightower said “you could kind of tell something wasn’t right” with Ivory, who had 17 carries for only 41 yards against the Patriots. He also caught a pair of passes for 12 yards and a touchdown.
