A couple of other names emerge on the trade chatter grapevine

AP

So far, only one name clearly has emerged regarding a possible deadline-deal transaction: Rams tight end Jared Cook.

A few others have bubbled up through our Sunday morning information harvesting activities.

First, 49ers tight end Vernon Davis is available for the right price. That’s hardly a surprise; Davis is in the last year of his contract, and the 49ers likely won’t bring him back in 2016. Why not get something for him before letting him walk and hoping for a compensatory pick in 2017?

Second, Chargers running back Donald Brown is believed to be available. But it’s hard to imagine anyone wanting to trade for him. Earlier in the season, the Chargers cut him in a Saturday we-need-a-roster-spot-elsewhere move. It made him a free agent, and no one else tried to sign him before the Chargers brought him back the following week.

Third, Ravens linebacker Arthur Brown was available at one point earlier in the year. It’s unclear whether he’s still available. With the Ravens at 1-6, however, pretty much everyone on the roster should be available.

We’ll provide ongoing updates throughout Sunday and Monday and into Tuesday regarding guys who are or may be available via trade. Losses on Sunday could make some teams more willing to make a move; injuries on Sunday or Monday could make other teams more interested in acquiring a player.

Trade deadline blockbusters do not happen in football. Please stop trying to create false buzz.

They need to find away to make trades more relevant… This would be fun if it were more like the NHL

Dunno what the Cardinals are doing but they better be doing whatever it takes to upgrade that pass rush. This is their best chance for a SB run this year and their biggest weakness is a legit pass rush.
