Jets work out receivers, not quarterbacks

The Jets supposedly are searching for quarterbacks. They didn’t trade for any before the Tuesday deadline, and they also didn’t work any out on what’s widely known as Tryout Tuesday.

Instead, the Jets looked at five receivers: Jarrett Boykin, Damaris Johnson, Aldrick Robinson, Greg Salas, and Shane Wynn.

The Jets also kicked tires on guard Martin Wallace and tight end David Ausberry.

On Monday, coach Todd Bowles confirmed that the Jets were considering quarterbacks, including Matt Flynn. Multiple reports have indicated that the Jets aren’t interested in Ryan Mallett. Given that Jets G.M. Mike Macaggnan worked in Houston when the Texans traded for Mallett in 2014, maybe Macaggnan saw and heard enough about Mallett to not have him around -- despite his connection to the AFC East rivals who have taken up residence in the Jets’ heads.
