Jerry Jones on Hardy victim photos: “We have given Greg a second chance”

AP

The Cowboys have spoken, and the short version is, they’re sticking with Greg Hardy.

In the wake of today’s publication of photos of the injuries suffered by Hardy’s ex-girlfriend, the Cowboys put out a statement tonight offering their support of the defensive end.

“While we did not have access to the photos that became public today, we were and are aware of the serious nature of this incident,” owner Jerry Jones said in a statement. “We as an organization take very this seriously. We do not condone domestic violence. We entered into the agreement with Greg fully understanding that there would be scrutiny and criticism.

“We have given Greg a second chance. He is a member of our team and someone who is grateful for the opportunity he has been given to move forward with his life and his career.”

That chance comes because Hardy is good at sacking quarterbacks. The Cowboys knew that, as well as they knew about the domestic violence charges that led to his being placed on the commissioner’s exempt list last year and suspended for 10 games this year (which was shortened to four).

And they didn’t need to see the photos that were released today to know what they must have looked like.

We take this very seriously. Really Jerry. Do the right thing, cut Hardy.

Winning isn’t everything Jerry. You look like the biggest fool, in pro sports right now.

Jerry Jones: Enabler of the Year…pathetic.

  5. rcosborne59 says: Nov 6, 2015 10:09 PM

The only reason you gave him a ‘second’ chance is that he can rush the passer. Jerry domestic abuse is way more important than sacks. You and any Cowboy fans that support this are pathetic.

  6. arrogantnation says: Nov 6, 2015 10:10 PM

No surprise here. If the Cowboys lose on Sunday the team will implode and become a dumpster fire.

  14. philly77mngr says: Nov 6, 2015 10:14 PM

if Jerry Jones was a Hollywood actor, I’m pretty sure he’d be typecast as an evil villain. Any other part wouldn’t be believable.

  15. billsfan says: Nov 6, 2015 10:14 PM

And look no further than his interaction with the special teams coach and Dez Bryant to verify the sincere appreciation he feels for his “second chance” opportunity.
Hey, Jeruh…after he punches out one of you coaches/players, the word you want to use is “oooops!”

  16. stampnhawk says: Nov 6, 2015 10:15 PM

Did anyone think the pictures were going to be any better?

Not sure why the sudden outrage, given the way this guy has acted after, and now on the team. He’s a nut job.

Shame on the NFL, but maybe moreso the NFLPA for appealing.

  17. accipiterq says: Nov 6, 2015 10:15 PM

They knew he was a piece of garbage when they signed him. They basically have said they don’t care, and they don’t care what you think of it. Roger only slapped him with 10 games, and then their cronie arbitrator (who had seen the pictures) knocked it back to 4. The NFL doesn’t give a single care about women, domestic violence, violence in general, or anything else, as long as the checks from advertisers and networks keep coming. But hey, remember! Only 11 more months until all gear is pink again! That means they care about women! Ignore the trail of broken bones, and murdered wives/girlfriends in their wake.

Sickening. Not as sickening as Hardy’s heinous acts, but still a nauseating shrug of the shoulders from Jerrah.

  21. aljack88 says: Nov 6, 2015 10:19 PM

Wonder what Jerruh would have thought if that was his daughter?

  22. norseyapper says: Nov 6, 2015 10:19 PM

Pathetic. Even the most die hard Cowboys fans should be embarrassed and appalled. Only Jerry Jones would stoop this low, but it seems very probable that his collection of miscreants will implode and cripple the organization.

  23. bender4700 says: Nov 6, 2015 10:19 PM

Photos or it didn’t happen is a phrase said in jest Jerry.

Maybe you should give a crap about women. If this victim was your daughter or granddaughter Hardy would be erased from the NFL history books.

Scum. So is the woman beater you signed.

  24. jesterx7769 says: Nov 6, 2015 10:21 PM

He served a suspension, and wasn’t convicted of a crime (because of the settlement)

Sorry but what else are the cowboys to do? release him? No one can resign him because of this? NFL career over while not even being convicted?

Athletes aren’t role models, get over it.

If all the stories of every major league athlete got out there would be no one left to play!

If he does it again, get rid of him, but JJ is right about the second chance.

Social justice warriors unite! Get the pitch forks!

  25. grota1 says: Nov 6, 2015 10:22 PM

Maybe Jerry should talk with the woman Hardy beat before declaring him a “leader”

  26. pocketcow says: Nov 6, 2015 10:22 PM

“We are cool with domestic abuse as long as it translates to performance on the football field” Jerry Jones.

  27. jolink653 says: Nov 6, 2015 10:24 PM

What an absolute disgrace. The least he could do is be honest and say they’re not ditching Hardy just because he’s good. They’d dump Hardy in two seconds of he was a marginal player. Who is he kidding with this second chance garbage? This is not that kind of situation. He bought off his victim after almost killing her. He should be in jail, not on the field and certainly not being paid millions of dollars. It takes a disgusting coward to hit a woman. Let’s hope he gets sorted out by opposing players on the field

  28. volum12 says: Nov 6, 2015 10:24 PM

  36. gallopinggilmore says: Nov 6, 2015 10:28 PM

This is a good enough answer. Most of you will have to live with it whether he is right or wrong.

Patsies will have to grasp with the reality that this really has nothing to do with Goodell, which may prove even more difficult.

  37. therealraider says: Nov 6, 2015 10:28 PM

Jerry doesnt get it, this isnt about second chances, by saying Greg Hardy is a member of your team, you’re saying you condone acts of violence against women. In the real world companies usually distance themselves from employee who gets a D.U.I .. in Jerry world, the Cowboys emphatically embrace employees who kill their fellow teammates or beat women. Its not like Hardy is a QB.. How many games has Hardy won for them, even the best DEs arent worth an average QB.. Cowboys losing on and off the field.

  38. vikingsmightwinone says: Nov 6, 2015 10:30 PM

  39. greymares says: Nov 6, 2015 10:30 PM

This scumbag needs to be removed from the game. Yes he can take Hardy with him

  40. shlort says: Nov 6, 2015 10:31 PM

Translation ? “We care about winning, not about how our players may act out violently against women”

What is jerry going to say when Greg Hardy kills his next girlfriend? “We are waiting until Greg gets out of prison, and if he can still play, we will be giving him a third chance”.

If the NFL knew the severity of the violence, why did they let Hardy back in the league? Between Hardy and Peterson, there is a trend. If you can play at high level, you can get away with anything. Fine example.

  41. benfranklinshat says: Nov 6, 2015 10:32 PM

  48. rgorr44 says: Nov 6, 2015 10:37 PM

Fearless leader Roger Goodell could have appealed the ruling that knocked Hardys suspension from 10 to four games. Instead he stacks the deck against Brady, spends millions in court, loses badly and appeals that decision spending millions more. Guess he figures domestic violence isn’t that big of an issue.

  49. dbwsea says: Nov 6, 2015 10:38 PM

  58. Cavs2016NBAWorldChampions says: Nov 6, 2015 10:42 PM

Well worded statement. I know most people want everyone banned from the NFL for life for all their wrongdoings.

I have zero problems with Jerrys statement or letting Hardy play. Football is a violent game. These players arent angels.

  63. mkbane says: Nov 6, 2015 10:46 PM

But Joseph Randle hasn’t been investigated yet but they’ll release him because “it’s in the best interest of the Cowboys.”

Get real Jerry. He’s on your team because you’re desperate to find some sort of way to keep your team in the race. If you had any shred of dignity, you’d cut him as fast as you did Randle. You’re pathetic.

Never have I once even considered hitting a woman back. And this is in context of direct retribution to physical violence and domestic abuse(which does go Female to Male as well BTW). I could have easily overpowered them and kicked their butts, but I didn’t. Because I am a real man.

This kindergarten equality movement is pure nonsense. Some people are much, much better than others. For example, myself, and likely everyone who reads this message is much, much better at being a human being than Greg Hardy.

This has nothing to do with the Patriots… that said, you’re right that Goodell actually went through (close to) proper procedures with Hardy. The arbitrator in this case reduced the suspension. The Brady case should have been dropped before it ever got to the suspension stage. If the NFL handled it properly, they would have saved a lot of money and embarrassment.

First of all, thank you to everyone who has written a post showing how utterly pathetic Jerry is for saying what he did. A man who lost his job and robs a store and takes only money, or is behind on his bills is someone who deserves a second chance. Assault and/or attempted murder normally lands a man in jail–and should. I never thought I’d hate the dirty Dallas team more than I did this morning. After this statement by Jerry, I see that it is possible.

Let’s hope he gets sorted out by opposing players on the field.

    ——————————————————————————–

True. I know there’ll be some who’d be somewhat surprised if Jerry actually comes out and says that the Cowboys, as an organization, are keeping Hardy on the team because of what he brings onto the field and, obviously, despite of his off the field issues. But, and, at this point, he himself have to realize people aren’t dumb and already know how he operates.

  128. maverick2560 says: Nov 6, 2015 11:47 PM

Hardy was found not guilty. The victim refused to testify. The DA can use the victims past testimony at the appeal hearing but they decided not to because in her 2 statements and testimony at trial she was
inconsistent. In other words she wasn’t credible enough. So Hardy
    is legally innocent.
People also need to know that within a couple of weeks of the alleged incident Hardy and the victim were at a club….she was using Coke and drinking with a friend and got loud and out of hand …Hardy tried to leave. The victim pulled her car behind Hardy’s car ..got out of car
and began to kick his door. Only after security was called did she leave.
They both are responsible. She decided to put the incident behind her and accept a civil settlement. She could have testified and still sought and most likely would have received a settlement. But she did
not choose to testify at the criminal trial. Perhaps she was worried about her inconsistent statements and past behavior.
She has moved on…why can’t Hardy move on. He was not convicted.
He sat out a year then was suspended …..he lost a lot of money.
    Why can’t he move on.
In my experience everyone wants mandatory sentencing …severe
punishment for convicted persons…until it’s their son…nephew etc.
People don’t get it Hardy was not convicted.
If he does something like this again I believe if he is convicted he should be banned for life. But until he has been convicted whether you like it or not…he must be treated as if he has no record.

I’m not aware of all the intricate details of this case, but I did notice the mass hysteria today, and the avalanche of white knights claiming justice for the damsel in distress. It made me wonder why this woman had raken up with Hardy in the first place. I think we’ve all seen enough to know there is something amiss with him. I am wondering why she hitched her wagon to him in the first place. I have seen too many times a woman make a claim like this knowing full well the backlash against the accused, and support for her, would be automatic and unquestioned. I have even seen women injure themselves to bolster their claims. I don’t claim to know what goes on inside the head of a person that does that. Regardless, I also heard that he was on the phone with 911 claiming she was assaulting HIM, and there was another witness there. Granted, I get that he is much bigger than her yada yada yada, but it’s an equalist society we live in and you can’t have it both ways. I’m not saying he is innocent or she is guilty. I’m just open to another angle on this based on what I have seen in the past. The idea that you don’t ever question a woman’s claims is dangerous, regardless of what the feminazi’s say. Having said all that I think Hardy is an absolute moron perfectly capable of doing what they say he did. I question HER moral character for not testifying and taking cash, which leads me to believe that may have been part of her motivation to be involved in the first place.

Because after all the hassle she’d have had to endure, he’d have got a light sentence, possibly just some anti-abuse program in return for a suspended sentence, and he would still get a job with Jerrah! Whereas she’d have had further, probably unwanted, public attention, possible threats & media circus. At least she gets a quick-out and something out of it by taking the cash. Doesn’t help the next victim though.

Perhaps the next house that Jerrah builds can be a huge shelter for abuse victims. Dallas will certainly need it.

It’s crazy how a lot of us will throw criticism to certain people because of their skin color and or he organization that Hardy plays for like this example before our eyes. First off, domestic violence is bad whether it’s a man or woman whom is getting abused in the situation. It’s funny though how Jonny Manziel’s situation is not being broadcast how Ray Rice or Greg Hardy’s domestic violence cases are being broadcast. Why’s that? Is it because we haven’t seen video or pictures? I’ve reporters to analyst to reading columns saying the Cowboys didn’t need photos to know what Hardy did. So why is nobody saying that about Manziel? Race plays a big part in why Hardy is getting all the hate whether people are want to believe it or not instead of the hate coming from him putting his hands on a woman. Who he plays for being the Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones is second behind his race instead of him putting his hands on a woman. But this is the question that everybody in America to everybody who has anything negative to say about Greg Hardy…… Why is Greg Hardy playing for the Cowboys instead of wearing a orange jail suit right now? If you don’t know that answer then it’s clearly something wrong with you. MONEY!!!!!! Greg Hardy plays for the Cowboys because Jerry Jones is a business man for one and he wants a Super Bowl really bad but before y’all keep knocking Jerry Jones for what he did in signing Hardy take a deep look at Hardy’s ex-girlfriend. She took the money that they offered her to not cooperate with case. Meaning she could’ve easily testified and had Hardy locked up for a very long time ending his football career. Ask yourself why didn’t she do that……. Ding ding ding……. MONEY!!!!!

The so-called “bruising” in these photos is barely visible. She has one legitimate bruise under her chin, which could have come from anywhere. The rest of the marks on her, particularly the ones on her back, are abrasions consistent with someone being restrained from attacking another person, which is what Hardy and Curtis claim happened. If Hardy had done what this woman actually claimed he did, the bruising would have been horrific.

All the brain-dead self-righteous asshats ripping Hardy on this forum need to ask themselves why the DA refused to prosecute the case. It’s because HE KNEW SHE WAS LYING (duh…). Read this gem from her interview with Detective Faye Strother:

Strother: Did you report any of the past ?

    Holder: No mam… no mam.

    Strother: Why not?

    Holder: He terrifies me.

HA! He “terrifies” her… until he opens his wallet, his fly, or both, and which is why she spent months in a relationship with him. What complete and utter bullsh!t. This woman is Anita Hill 2.0.

If Hardy was actually guilty of beating the tar out of this woman, why did the judge in the bench trial, who has a long track record of women’s rights activism, just give him a slap-on-the-wrist sentence of 60 days probation? And why would Hardy then appeal such a light sentence if he was truly guilty of DV? A genuinely guilty person would have breathed a sigh of relief and been done with it. Instead, Hardy risks a much more severe sentence by having the case tried de novo before a jury (which could quite possibly include persons almost as stupid as the majority of the posters on this thread…). Why? BECAUSE HE’S INNOCENT AND WANTS TO CLEAR HIS NAME.

For those of you thinking that Hardy paid her off to escape justice, why didn’t he do so before the bench trial?

Also, why did now-former L.A. Kings hockey player Slava Voynov spent 90 days in the L.A. County Jail last summer for DV, notwithstanding the fact that the victim in the case, his wife, refused to testify against him even when threatened with contempt by the judge? And how in the world was Aaron Hernandez ever convicted of murder without any witnesses? It’s because THE EVIDENCE was sufficient to convict both of them. And THE EVIDENCE in the Hardy case DOES NOT support Nicole Holder’s story, which is why the DA, the police and pretty much everyone in law enforcement in Charlotte correctly viewed this case for what it was: a SHAKEDOWN by Holder.

Americas team or nightmare! This team replaces mine as the most dysfunctional NFL team. After the Rice incident the NFL still can’t get it right! Smashing a woman into a bathtub and throwing her over a table full of assault rifles! This guy is a time bomb waiting to blow.

  188. jdzboyz says: Nov 7, 2015 5:43 AM

I’m just curious why no media outlet ever really focused on Junior Gallette. How come nobody is hounding Snyder? Wasn’t he involved in TWO assault cases against women? One of which was even on video. He’s a Washington Redskin and would be on the field every week if he didn’t get hurt. What about that signing? Hardy is a scumbag but I’m 100% certain there are people that each one of you work with who has been in a similar situation. This is the NFL. These are not all good people and they’re not all bad people. I’m sure each team has it’s “troubled” players but this is the hot story since it involves Dalllas.

This isn’t unique to the Cowboys or the NFL.

  203. tomtravis76 says: Nov 7, 2015 7:57 AM

The owners and league office do not care. Nothing will change.

The NFL is spending millions upon millions of dollars over a false claim of altering air pressure in footballs. Fining players for honoring loved ones during cancer awareness month. Yet they know a guy beat up another woman and try to hide it all once again, because he is talented on the field. The people in charge of the NFL are just bad, greedy people.

  211. r8dernation says: Nov 7, 2015 8:42 AM

I don’t understand why Hardy is not getting the Ray Rice treatment from the NFL. Did you see the photos? He didn’t just punch a woman once, he beat the crap out of her! With all those marks on her, he must have been tossing her around like a rag doll. Real men don’t do that, ever. Neither guy deserves a 2nd chance but if you had to pick 1 of these 2 guys to give a 2nd chance, it surely wouldn’t be Hardy.

  212. slomojoe1 says: Nov 7, 2015 8:43 AM

Second chances may be extended to people who make mistakes, show contrition, make amends and show the desire to make positive changes in their lives. Hardy has been completely unrepentant about this incident, arrogantly acting as just a criminal who got away with it (which is exactly what he is).

Jones needs to understand the difference between giving people a second chance, and enabling. Hardy’s a ticking bomb, and the next one is on the Cowboy’s organization, and Jones in particular.

And shame on the NFL for having allowed Hardy back after having access to this material. A lifetime ban is what he should have received. If he sued back, any money spent on those legal proceedings would have been FAR better spent, morally and PR-wise, than the wasted millions on the Deflategate witch hunt. It just shows where the NFL’s priorities are.

  213. realityonetwo says: Nov 7, 2015 8:50 AM

But ever since Jerry Jones owned the team the “ONLY” thing he’s done right is hire Jimmy Jones. Even the last Super Bowl won by the Cowboys belongs to Jimmy Jones, not Barry Switzer or Jerry Jones hell I could’ve coached that team to a Super Bowl win. Jerry says, “We gave Hardy a second chance.” So, with that second chance Hardy makes creepy comments about another player’s wife and assaults one of your coaches. Then you call him one of the team’s “real leaders”.

“We do not condone domestic violence.”

    YES YOU DO.

    (face palm)

  230. jonahfalcon says: Nov 7, 2015 9:32 AM

  231. lemmetalkwouldya says: Nov 7, 2015 9:34 AM

    Several feelings here:

    Re. Jerry Jones:
    A) Do you REALLY think we believe you when you say you didn’t see those photos before you signed Hardy?

    B) The fact that you have NOW seen those photos and still haven’t cut Hardy, along with your “give him a second chance” line, prove to the world that you don’t give a crap what kind of player you put on the field, it’s all about WINNING. And you obviously don’t give a crap about women’s abuse.

    Re. Hardy:
You’re a piece of crap who beat a woman badly, showed no remorse, was CONVICTED of this once, and show no remorse NOW.

I don’t care how much of a beast you are on the field, you’re a piece of human garbage who should be locked up next to Aaron Hernandez.

    Re. Roger Gooddell:
If you have shown the world one thing, it’s that you have no set plain on handling players who violate the law in abusing/assaulting women and children. You hold different standards for players, depending on their team, and the amount of evidence against them …. you step up your punishment when confronted with video proof.

You should immediately come out with a one-strike policy: Assault a woman or a child, and you are DONE. Doesn’t matter who you are, how good you are, or whether there is video or not.

    DONE.

You let people like Hardy back in the game, yet you persecute a football legend like Tom Brady all the way to Federal court, over a few wisps of air that your $5 million investigation can’t even say happened.

You’re a hypocrite of the highest level, and an inconsistent one at that!!!

  232. lemmetalkwouldya says: Nov 7, 2015 9:36 AM

By the way, as much as I abhor violence against women, it’s hard to feel compassion for a woman who took the payout, instead of prosecuting this piece of garbage and putting him where he belongs: behind bars.

If Hardy feels no remorse, it’s partly because the money mattered more to her.

  233. meximyke says: Nov 7, 2015 9:39 AM

That said, it has been a tough year for some prominent sniveling connivers like Goodell, Irsay and Grigson, John Harbaugh and Jerry Jones (so maybe I should be agnostic instead of an atheist).

You don’t have to be a fan of an unbeaten team to want to see the winning continue. Don Shula, Mercury Morris, and the rest of the “perfect” Dolphins, the definition of a poor winners, will be soiling their Depends if all of these unbeaten teams keep winning.

  235. sterling7 says: Nov 7, 2015 9:50 AM

P.S. What is it with you clowns trying to make this a black and white issue-obviously he didn’t date your sister. Hardy got away with it because there’s someone out there as stupid and desperate enough as Jerry Jones to put a loser on the team like Greg Hardy. This is about Jerry Jones stupidity not Greg Hardy being a loser…………….

  236. tigerlilac says: Nov 7, 2015 9:59 AM

Owners get too much credit when teams win and not enough blame when they lose, and not nearly enough for the culture of the team. I’m a Patriots fan and we have had dirt bags on the team we root for as well. If it wasn’t for Myra Kraft, Bob Kraft’s wife, Christian Peter would never have been cut. He was cut before training camp opened after being drafted by the Patriots in 1996 in the 5th round (well before the Belichick head coaching era).

The background on Peter was disgusting. While at Nebraska, Peter had eight run-ins with the law for various offenses such as threatening a parking attendant while his vehicle was being towed, trespassing, public urination, refusing to comply with police, minor in possession of alcohol, failure to appear in court, and allegedly grabbing a woman by the throat. He was convicted four times. He was alleged to have raped a freshman girl; two times in two days—the second with two of his teammates keeping watch.

Peter went on to play for the Giants, Colts and Bears.

All the self-righteous cretins ripping Hardy on this forum need to ask themselves why the DA refused to prosecute the case. It’s because HE KNEW SHE WAS LYING (duh…). Read this gem from her interview with Detective Faye Strother:

Strother: Did you report any of the past (inaudible)?

    Holder: No mam… no mam.

    Strother: Why not?

    Holder: He terrifies me.

HA! He “terrifies” her… until he opens his wallet, his fly, or both, and which is why she spent months in a relationship with him. What complete and utter bullsh!t. This woman is Anita Hill 2.0.

If Hardy was actually guilty of beating the tar out of this woman, why did the judge in the bench trial, who has a long track record of women’s rights activism, just give him a slap -on-the-wrist sentence of 60 days probation? And why would Hardy then appeal such a light sentence if he was truly guilty of DV? A guilty person would have breathed a sigh of relief and been done with it. Instead, Hardy risks a much more severe sentence by having the case tried de novo before a jury (which could quite possibly include persons nearly as stupid as the majority of the posters on this thread…). Why? BECAUSE HE’S INNOCENT AND WANTS TO CLEAR HIS NAME.

For those of you thinking that Hardy paid her off to escape justice, why didn’t he do so before the bench trial?

Also, the victim’s cooperation isn’t need in DV cases. That’s why now-former L.A. Kings hockey player Slava Voynov spent 90 days in the L.A. County Jail last summer for DV (and deservedly so), notwithstanding the fact that the victim in the case, his wife, refused to testify against him even when threatened with contempt by the judge.

Mr. Hardy shows not shown any remorse. He will beat a another woman, it is just a matter of time.

The release of the deadspin photos only proves how a mob mentality of political correctness NOW wants some other punishment for Greg Hardy. Lets stone him to death in a town square like they do in some backwards barbaric countries. You are all worthless and weak, part of a modern lynch mob that seeks to undermine in favor of what the public mob wants.

Here’s what I know….I don’t know Greg Hardy and neither do any of you. I don’t know if he will ever repeat his actions and neither do any of you holier than thou types. I know this guy can ball and has the right to earn a living doing so as long as he stays out of trouble PROSPECTIVELY. I know many of you along with Deadspin want to judge him RETROSPECTIVELY over and over again.

What a sad bunch of characters.

Once the corporate sponsors start pulling out(and I hope they do)Jerry Jones will change his tune very quickly I’m sure, because with people like him if you’re not able to make him any money he’s got no use for you.

  265. loserjet says: Nov 7, 2015 1:48 PM

He should change his team from cowboy to cower

  266. kmossg says: Nov 7, 2015 2:22 PM

It’s funny people are jumping on Jerry now, this is how he has always played it. All the great Cowboys teams of the past had some extreme characters on them. Difference is, back then, there was nowhere as much scrutiny. No twitter, facebook, less media coverage etc. Basically, you couldn’t broadcast your opinion past your own circle. Today, we know that has all changed.

IMO, you live with the law, for better or worse. Sentence given, arbitrated and served. That said, something seems odd here and I hope Hardy doesn’t give anyone more reason to think badly of him as a person. Not saying anyone deserves anything, just saying. If the Holder is dishonest for or against Hardy she does a disservice to all true victims and if Hardy repeats it’s on her too. I get that she may be scared but if he’s that bad a line needs to be drawn. Sad when you can trust no one.

  268. cptcavalier says: Nov 7, 2015 3:13 PM

Jerry is so desperate to win he would sell his soul to the devil! If your a villain and can help us winning then the Cowboys franchise is place the for you! If you have a rap sheet then they have a contract for you!

  269. bamboozle99 says: Nov 7, 2015 3:14 PM

You are the only team who wanted this guy. It’s not about giving Hardy a chance, it’s about giving yourself a chance. Liar.

  270. psubeerman21 says: Nov 7, 2015 3:45 PM

It isn’t about wether he is innocent or not, it’s public perception. A lot of women watch football, buy football related items, and enjoy the game just as much as men. Taking him on threatens to piss off women, and any man can tell you that is never a good idea. What may or may not translate into wins on the field will probably mean lost revenue from merchandise sales and lower tv ratings. It also makes you look like a flaming douche. Why bother?

  271. babygaga19 says: Nov 7, 2015 3:48 PM

Privately, JJ will tell you he is a HUGE fan of the JR character from Dallas. As I recall, JR treated women like chattel. Good role model JJ!

  272. bluenose1965 says: Nov 7, 2015 3:54 PM

It’s Okay Jerrah, you need to have a soul to sell it.

  273. darkgoody says: Nov 7, 2015 4:04 PM

Why is there no link in here to the Deadspin article? This is disgusting. The NFL discipline/appeals process has to be fixed. Rich, entitled guys saying hey, let me rub it in your face just a little bit more.

  274. delshofner says: Nov 7, 2015 4:07 PM

Meanwhile, up until now they’ve been spreading the narrative that maybe he was innocent after all.

  275. tony2308 says: Nov 7, 2015 4:10 PM

Politics between NFLPA and Goodell are getting in the way of player discipline.

  276. katherinearhodes921 says: Nov 7, 2015 4:30 PM

    @jesterx7769
He served a suspension, and wasn’t convicted of a crime (because of the settlement)

Ray Rice served a suspension too and he was never charged with a crime.

Sorry but what else are the cowboys to do? release him? No one can resign him because of this? NFL career over while not even being convicted?

Ray Rice, after the video was released, was cut and no one else has re-signed him or is willing to sign him and his NFL career is over (as it should be and I’m a Ravens fan, but Ray Rice deserved what he got)

Athletes aren’t role models, get over it.

You are not correct that Athletes aren’t role models. It is a privilege to play a sport for a living (not a right or entitlement). With that privilege comes the expectation that you will be a role model for those who want to emulate you and be like you when they grow up. If you can’t be a good role model on and off the field you shouldn’t play the game.

If all the stories of every major league athlete got out there would be no one left to play!

I understand players make mistakes and things happen, but this goes beyond that. If a player gets a DUI, ok, you say you make a mistake and you move on, you beat someone so bad you leave the marks shown in the photos, you should be done.

If he does it again, get rid of him, but JJ is right about the second chance.

So what you are saying here is that it is ok to hit a woman once and you should get a pass but if you hit her again then you should be punished? Hmm….hope you aren’t married.

  277. tomtravis76 says: Nov 7, 2015 4:43 PM

Makes you wonder if Hernandez was able to just pay off everyone involved and the families, have his record expunged, how quickly would an NFL owner give him a second chance?

It’s ridiculous that his money bought his freedom. Everyone should then be able to offer a financial settlement instead of jail. Why have courts and laws ,when we all really would rather just have money. Very sad place we have landed.

  278. jfmod says: Nov 7, 2015 5:46 PM

Jerry needs to learn that its more important ways to win off the field than on the field.

    Protect the Star.

  279. ebdug says: Nov 7, 2015 6:38 PM

With his record having been expunged, it’s likely he’ll avoid jail next time there’s an incident. Hardy may have more chances in the future.

  280. askcabs says: Nov 7, 2015 6:40 PM

“Second chances” are for those that are remorseful and responsible. Greg Hardy is neither of those things. He is defiant and entitled….he is just another example of an NFL player who has no respect.

  281. rayslover727 says: Nov 7, 2015 7:24 PM

    Jones has no soul.

  282. The ARA II says: Nov 9, 2015 9:37 AM

I think Hardy deserves a 2nd chance. He should be in prison but if not, he was already punished by the league.

Look at all you mamitas talking about something you know nothing about. You never lived it and you show more outrage than people who did. Your opinion means nothing.

  283. nhpats says: Nov 11, 2015 11:30 AM

To all those defending Hardy and claiming he deserves a 2nd chance. How would you feel if Hardy beat up your daughter? Would you still be claiming he deserves a 2nd chance?

  284. usdcoyotesfan says: Nov 13, 2015 2:05 PM

When Adrian Peterson got a 2nd chance after pleading guilty to child abuse, everyone welcomed him back with open arms. When Greg Hardy got a 2nd chance after not being proven guilty, everyone lost their minds.
