Vernon Davis has very limited debut for Denver

The good news for Broncos tight end Vernon Davis is that he didn’t have to get acclimated to winning again, after all. The bad news is that he barely got acclimated to playing for his new team.

Via Mike Klis of 9news.com, Davis participated in roughly six snaps on offense in a 27-24 loss to the Colts. Starting tight end Owen Daniels had six catches for 102 yards and a score.

Davis attributed his lack of action to the complexity of the offense.

It is a tough playbook,” Davis said. “It’s tough. I mean you can learn the bulk of it but there’s still things like, say this is the play. OK, you’ve got the play but then what about when he changes the play or he signals to you? I got the bulk of it now I have to get the other things.”

Davis ultimately got no catches in his debut, which was the first loss of the season for Denver. Meanwhile, the team that traded Davis won on Sunday, as the 49ers beat the Falcons.
