Mike Wallace: Lack of catches frustrating, but we’re winning

Dave Reginek

During his time with the Dolphins, wide receiver Mike Wallace wasn’t always shy about expressing his displeasure with his role in the offense.

Those complaints would usually pop up after games when Wallace’s production lagged. It made for a largely unhappy time in Miami and helped contribute to the decision to trade him to the Vikings during the offseason, but hasn’t been an issue in Minnesota.

Wallace didn’t make it one on Thursday while discussing his lagging production. Wallace has one catch for four yards in the last two games and is on pace for numbers that make his Dolphins stats look robust, but says any frustration he feels about that is mitigated by the Vikings’ 6-2 record.

“Of course it’s frustrating, but at the end of the day we’re 6-2 and winning football games,” Wallace said, via 1500ESPN.com. “I’m going to do my part, continue to work and things will happen. It’s frustrating, but you can’t get mad. You have to continue to stay the course and believe things will turn around.”

Stefon Diggs has one more catch in five games this year than Wallace has in eight appearances, which gives an idea of how the pecking order for wideouts has shifted in Minnesota this season. That may not be the way Wallace thought it would go, but complaining about something that’s working is never a good way to find sympathetic ears.
