Jaguars defensive tackle Sen’Derrick Marks got off to a late start in 2015 and now his season is coming to an early end.
Coach Gus Bradley announced Tuesday that Marks is going on injured reserve after tearing his triceps in last Sunday’s game. Bradley said Monday that Marks would be getting a second opinion on the injury, which apparently didn’t go as well as wide receiver Allen Hurns’s own visit with doctors this week.
The news makes 2015 essentially a lost season for Marks. He tore his ACL in Week 17 of the 2014 season, which led to rehab that extended through the first five weeks of this season. Marks played in four games and made two starts, recording six tackles, but won’t get a chance to round further into form thanks to the new injury.
Marks had 12.5 sacks over his first two seasons with the Jaguars and remains signed through the 2017 season. He’s set to make a base salary of $3.45 million in 2016 with a cap hit of $4.675 million, but it wouldn’t cost the Jags much cap space if they decide that the two injuries makes it time to look in another direction.
