Report: Daryl Washington continues to violate terms of suspension

AP

As much of an impact as he can make on the field, the Cardinals have gotten along fairly well without suspended linebacker Daryl Washington.

And that’s a good thing, as his absence may not be ending anytime soon.

Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reported that Washington hasĀ “continued to have violations” of the league’s drug policy while he’s suspended, and there are concerns that his career may be over. Glazer didn’t specify the nature of those violations.

Washington hasn’t played since the final week of the 2013 season because of multiple violations of the league’s substance abuse policy, but he was eligible to apply for reinstatement last March.

Cards coach Bruce Arians said this summer it was a “waste of breath” to talk about Washington until something changes, and it doesn’t appear he’ll be wasting any more on the topic.

I forgot all about this guy. I think it’s safe to say that the Cardinals have moved on, and his career is probably over since he hasn’t played in 3 years now.

VH1 could do another season of celebrity rehab with the number of NFL players who are presently suspended a year plus for drug and alcohol problems.

Really don’t know why the owners object so much to players smoking pot. It’ll be legal everywhere in the near future, anyway. Plus, after smashing into other people for 3 hours a day, I’d want to unwind with a blunt, too…

He is an addict, you will be reading about him in 10 years when he is out of money and turns to violent crime to feed the Demon..
Guys like him shouldn’t even be eligible for the Draft.

What a contrast – the Cards also have Tyrann Mathieu, perhaps the best story of a kid with these kinds of issues waking up and deciding to embark on a better path. If only more would look to the Honey Badger for inspiration on how it could all turn out.

A true waste. Washington could have been an absolute superstar.
