Colts left tackle Anthony Castonzo has made 65 straight starts, but his status for Week 12 is in some doubt after he suffered a sprained MCL late in Sunday’s victory over the Falcons.
Coach Chuck Pagano said Monday that Castonzo is considered “week-to-week” as a result of the injury. That phrasing suggests that it will take a lot for Castonzo to get on the field to protect Matt Hasselbeck this week. It would be a big loss as Castonzo has been the steadiest member of a shaky Colts line for some time.
After Castonzo was injured, the Colts shuffled their line to put Joe Reitz at left tackle, Jack Mewhort at right tackle and brought Lance Louis off the bench to replace Mewhort at left guard. Pagano said Monday that the team was still mulling its options if they are going to move forward without Castonzo.
Pagano also updated the condition of cornerback Vontae Davis, who left the victory with a hamstring injury. Pagano called Davis day-to-day, which should give him a better chance of playing this week than Castonzo.
