The Saints are adding some veteran help to their defense, and since the guy they’re signing has played in the CFL, he should fit right in.

According to Adam Caplan of ESPN, the Saints are signing veteran pass-rusher Phillip Hunt to bolster a defense that has already gotten a coordinator fired this year.

The 29-year-old Hunt was with the Lions earlier this year, but was cut in October. He had a sack in the two games he appeared for the Lions.

Prior to that, his last game in the league was in 2012. He tore his ACL in 2013 with the Eagles, and went to camp with the Colts last year before he was released during the preseason.

He was a star in the Canadian League, with 16.0 sacks for Winnipeg in 2010, but he failed to turn into Cameron Wake.

Saints rookie Hau’oli Kikaha has been nursing an ankle injury, and wasn’t able to finish their last game before the bye week.
