At one point in the fourth quarter of Monday night’s game, EJ Manuel started warming up on the Bills sideline as starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor dealt with an apparent right shoulder injury.

Taylor never came out of the game, but seemed to be bothered by the knock over the rest of the contest as he was frequently adjusting his shoulder pads. Taylor didn’t speak to reporters after the game and coach Rex Ryan said he hoped that Taylor would be healthy enough to play against the Chiefs in Week 12.

“Yeah, when I saw what you guys saw with the shoulder, I wanted to make sure my kid was okay,” Ryan said. “I wasn’t going to put him out there if I had ever felt he wasn’t okay and I wanted assurance that he was, but I made sure EJ was ready to go in there.”

Ryan said he thought Taylor had “plenty of arm strength” on throws after suffering the injury, which helped convince him that there was no reason to make a change. Taylor was 20-of-36 for 233 yards, but could have had bigger numbers for himself and on the scoreboard if not for a handful of missed throws that he’ll have to make for the Bills offense to put up enough points on a weekly basis.
