The Buccaneers will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their first game at Raymond James Stadium in 2018 and they’ll be sprucing up the joint in advance of the milestone

The team announced Wednesday that they have reached agreement with the Tampa Sports Authority for renovations to the stadium that are expected to cost over $100 million. The first stage of the work is expected to be completed in time for next season and will include the installation of new HD video boards around the stadium that will leave the stadium with 28,416 square feet of video boards, the third-most of any building in the league. Stage Two would include renovations of lounges, concourses and a team store, among other enhancements, in time for the 2017 season.

This is a great day for our entire community as we work toward an agreement that ensures Raymond James Stadium will remain one of the top sports facilities in the country,” Buccaneers COO Brian Ford said in a statement. “The proposed agreement will provide the type of much-needed enhancements that will improve the in-game experience for our loyal Buccaneer fans and will play a key role in our ability to attract the types of large-scale events that we have grown accustomed to hosting over the years. These exciting projects have been made possible through the hard work and foresight of all parties, including public officials from the TSA, Hillsborough County and the City of Tampa.

The Tampa Sports Authority is committed to spending $28.8 million on the renovations with the Bucs contributing $57.8 million and being responsible for expected other costs that would push the total above $100 million.
