Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas kicked off the team’s go-ahead drive late in the fourth quarter last Sunday night with a 36-yard catch that moved them into New England territory on their way to an Andre Caldwell touchdown.
It hasn’t been unusual to see Thomas make a big play for the Denver offense over the years, but it was unusual to see it that night. The Broncos threw the ball to Thomas 12 other times, but that was the only catch he made in a game that saw drops and near-misses that aren’t part of his regular contributions to the Broncos offense.
“I feel like I let my teammates down besides that one big play,” Thomas said, via the Denver Post. “There were passes that I dropped that I should have caught. If you kind of get to that point where you’re always thinking about it, it kind of makes it worse.”
Thomas said the snowy weather played a role in his performance, but that he’s “sure I can play better.” His history says that’s a good bet and this Sunday’s meeting with the Chargers should provide a decent opportunity for a rebound.
