Mike Pettine: “Reasonable chance” Terrelle Pryor plays this week

We know that Johnny Manziel will be starting for the Browns at quarterback this week and we may also get our first chance to see Terrelle Pryor playing wide receiver in a regular season game.

Pryor made the transition to wideout after signing with the Browns in the offseason, but was released before the first game of the season. He returned to the Browns last week after several workouts around the league failed to result in a job, but was inactive for the team’s loss to the Bengals.

On Wednesday, though, coach Mike Pettine said, via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, there is a “reasonable chance” that Pryor will be active against the 49ers this week. Pettine said Pryor is in great shape physically and has retained a lot of knowledge of the offense after his previous stint with the team.

A look at the list of injured wide receivers in Cleveland suggests the chance could be even better than that. Travis Benjamin, Brian Hartline, Taylor Gabriel, Marlon Moore and Andrew Hawkins all appear on Cleveland’s injury report, leaving Pryor, Darius Jennings and Dwayne Bowe as the healthy options at the position.
