Vikings will bid farewell (probably) to TCF Bank Stadium in prime time

With the Giants beating the Dolphins on Monday night, the Giants and Vikings will slide to Sunday Night Football in Week 16, taking the place of a Steelers-Ravens game that likely would have seen Baltimore invaded by Terrible Towels, given the current struggles (and irrelevance) of the home team.

It means that the Vikings will end their two-year stay at the University of Minnesota’s TCF Bank Stadium with their only night game there of the past two seasons -- and their first night game at the venue since Week 15 of 2010, a Monday night against the Bears that saw the career of Brett Favre come to a conclusion when his head hit the frozen FieldTurf.

In theory, the Vikings could still host another game at their temporary home-not-far-away-from-home during the postseason, assuming that they win the NFC North (unlikely) or end up securing the No. 5 seed and hosting the No. 6 seed for the conference championship (even less likely). Chances are that the Vikings will be the last team in, if they make it into the postseason field at all.

Which will mean no home games beyond the regular-season finale, a game with clear postseason implications for both teams.
